Wicked BIO

Wicked is a celebrated Broadway musical that has captivated audiences since its original opening on October 30, 2003, at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the musical is based on Gregory Maguire's novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West." The narrative explores the untold story of the witches of Oz, particularly focusing on Elphaba, the Wicked Witch, and Glinda, the Good Witch.

This production has become one of the longest-running and highest-grossing musicals in Broadway history, with numerous international productions and a recent film adaptation set to release in 2024. The musical features iconic songs such as "Defying Gravity" and "Popular," which have become staples in contemporary musical theatre. Audiences can expect a vibrant live performance experience, characterized by stunning production design and powerful vocal performances.

The upcoming performances at Nuevo Teatro Alcala in Madrid will run from October 3 to October 15, 2026. This venue will host a series of shows that promise to deliver the same enchanting experience that has made Wicked a global phenomenon.

Venue and Seating Information

Nuevo Teatro Alcala is a prominent venue located in the heart of Madrid, known for its rich history and exceptional acoustics. However, some seats in the rear balcony may not offer the best sightlines due to their distance from the stage. For those seeking a balance between price and view, the front balcony sections are generally considered acceptable, providing a decent perspective without breaking the bank.
